The Sawmill Prime Rib & Steak House is a big part of the history of Alberta and Grande Prairie. Launched in Edmonton by Tom Goodchild November 7, 1976, the original and subsequent locations that spread across the province always enchant with the brand’s signature wooden beams and elevated rustic charm. And the beef! It just can’t be beat. Alberta beef combined with an ageing and preparation process proprietary to the steakhouse have kept diners flocking to the restaurants for decades.
The Sawmill Grande Prairie is a combined effort of 18 limited partners & entrepreneurs both from the Grande Prairie and Edmonton marketplace. Unified with the Sawmill Restaurant Group they provide a place where friends, family and business associates have come together to celebrate, commemorate, and negotiate business.
Not only is the Sawmill a restaurant and lounge, they are also an avid supporter of Alberta Agriculture though their unwavering support of local beef. Today more than ever people matter, and any time we step forward to, or in support of an Alberta product, we are supporting local families and small business throughout Alberta including the city and surrounding communities of Grande Prairie by honoring and serving only the best these local farmers and ranchers have to offer.
President and Operating Partner Tasker Goodchild is determined to keep the legacy going, and to show patrons that Sawmill and the recently launched Mill Craft Bar + Kitchen brand are “better together.” He continues, “We’ve recognized the landscape of hospitality has shifted to a more casual style of dining so we developed something that would appeal to this market. What can you expect at The Mill Craft Bar + Kitchen? An elevated, social and relaxed atmosphere where you can gather with friends after work for good conversation, great food and even better drinks, with the quality you would come expect from Sawmill. Aimed at a broader demographic, there will be lighter fare, shared bites, local Grande Prairie craft beer & liquor, and seasonal cocktails. It’s the next generation of dining for the next generation of Sawmill patrons.”
